Enabling Pop-ups — Mac Users

The following instructions are for enabling pop-ups in each recommended browser and selecting the download location on your computer.

Chrome

Select Preferences from the Chrome menu at the top right next to the Apple menu or Settings from the 3-dots menu (dots, ellipsis, more, symbol, three dots icon) on the far left (cmd, command, interface icon,).

    • Scroll down to Privacy and security to select Site settings.
      • Scroll down to select Pop-up and redirects.
      • Click the Add button under the Allow section and enter festivals.nfmc-music.org and click Add.
    • Scroll to Additional content settings.
      • Select PDF documents. Enable the option to Download PDF files instead of automatically opening them in Chrome.
    • From the main settings page, scroll down to the bottom and click Advanced. In the Downloads section click the Change button to select a download location or toggle on the option to Ask where to save each file before downloading.

When you choose a download location, you can select the Downloads folder or any other folder and your downloaded files will always be saved there. Select this option when you only want one place to look for downloaded files.

When you choose the Ask where to save each file before downloading option, you will always be able to designate a specific folder for every download in which to save files. Select this option when you want to organize your downloaded files into appropriate folders, i.e. the current year's Festival folder.

From the Window menu at the top, select Downloads (arrow, shift iconcmd, command, interface icon J) to view all recently downloaded files or navigate via the Finder to the folder where the downloads are saved.

Firefox

Select Preferences from the Firefox menu at the top right next to the Apple menu or the hamburger menu ( hamburger, lines, menu icon ) on the far left (cmd, command, interface icon ,) .

      • Scroll down to Files & Applications/Downloads.
      • Select radio button for desired option: Save files to.... or Always ask you where to save files.

When you choose the Save files to... option you can select the Downloads folder or any other folder and your downloaded files will always be saved there. Select this when you only want one place to look for downloaded files.

When you choose the Always ask you where to save files option, you will always be able to designate a specific folder for every download in which to save files. Select this option when you want to organize your downloaded files into appropriate folders, i.e. the current year's Festival folder.

From the Tools menu, select Downloads (cmd, command, interface icon J) to view all recently downloaded files or navigate via the Finder to the folder where the downloads are saved.

Safari

Select Preferences from the Safari menu at the top right next to the Apple menu (cmd, command, interface icon ,) .

    • From the General tab, select an option from File download location: Ask for each download or Other.
    • Navigate to the Vivace site. Open Preferences and from the Websites tab, select Pop-Up Windows from the General column on the right.
      • In the Allow pop-up windows on the websites below: column, select Allow from the drop down menu listed next to the Vivace site name (festivals.nfmc-music.org). 

When you choose the Other option, you can select the Downloads folder or any other folder and your downloaded files will always be saved there. Select this when you only want one place to look for downloaded files.

When you choose the Always for each download option, you will always be able to designate a specific folder for every download in which to save files. Select this option when you want to organize your downloaded files into appropriate folders, i.e. the current year's Festival folder.

Selecting the Open "safe" files after downloading will automatically open the downloaded file.

From the View menu at the top select Show Downloads  (option icon cmd, command, interface icon L) or click the Show downloads icon (Png File Svg - Down Arrow Button Png - High-resolution PNG ...) in the top right corner of the browser menu bar to see all recently downloaded files or navigate via the Finder to the folder where the downloads are saved.

By default, PDFs will open in the native reader Preview app found on most Macs. (It can be downloaded from the Mac AppStore if you do not have it.) You can also download Adobe Reader (get.adobe.com/reader/) for viewing PDFs.
